Rising up (phoenix)

 Addiction (Meth)

 Death (Child)

 Disease (AIDS)

 Distruction (Society)

 Fear (War)

Currently I am working on a metamorphosis theme.  The subject is a female transforming to a phoenix.  Changing from ashes and rising from painful situations, such as destruction of society, the shame of rape, addiction of meth or a death of a child.   This series is the heart of me.  These subjects are my family, friends or what I have endured.  We with faith in ourselves or a higher purpose have rose from the ashes of our old self to be new beautiful, stronger version of our pervious selves.  I think each art piece cuts to the heart of fear to those who gaze on it.  I believe by expressing real issues, I bring up the thought reality is horrible and hard, and the things we view as beauty and find comfort in, is actually mystical, such as “god” or the phoenix.
