Like most people I find myself straddling the lines between reality to fantasy and while in transition of my everyday life.  My art is an extension of my reality and fantasy, combining my heritage and life experiences to make a cohesive piece.  My aim is to evoke a range of emotion for the viewer with all my art.  My hope is to have the viewer see the story or journey that brought me to my finished product.
When creating a piece I try to start a project with a theme in mind, whether it is Asian, metamorphosis, etcetera.  I take a moment to think about what that theme means to me, what inspired me to choose the theme and what I can draw from past experiences to bring a personal feel to my art?  By taking time I can make a large rough sketch or thumbnail sketches to help with the layout and positions of subjects I would like to include.  When that is done I will decide on what media will best convey the feeling as well as bring texture in the subjects.  I love to use all different types’ media and references to bring my subject to life, such as canvas and paint, pen and ink on premium paper, or acrylic and glass.
